Missions Stories
Are You Ready to Become a Missionary?Right where you are now and around the WORLD!Wow! What a week it has been in VBS!
Let's take a trip down memory lane as we think back to what we've discussed this week. On Monday, we talked about how the southeastern part of Alabama had relatively few Latinos just 20 years ago. "Chosen People" is an outreach of the communities around the Guatemala City garbage dump. It is the vision of Eulalia Castro and focuses on evangelism, education, and practical responses to various physical needs. Chosen people shares God's love through words and actions.
Eulalia is from Guatemala. Brett has had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua with mission purposes. Currently he co-leads a college ministry and serves as youth pastor at Dothan Country Fellowship. They are members of Calvary Baptist Church. He will be receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Missions from the Baptist College of Florida. Eulalia was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She has a Bachelor’s degree in International Business. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She also has served in the mission field in Guatemala and Nicaragua. Chosen People was born in 2008 to serve and expand God’s word in the surrounding areas of the largest garbage dump in Guatemala City.
Hopefully you've learned a lot about the Bible and a lot about what the Bible has to say about all of us needing to be on mission for God. I have shared with you a lot of information about just some of the different missions opportunities that you have in working with the Hispanic community in your own neighborhood and school.
